Pelican Driving Instructor Training
is an ORDIT registered driving instructor training establishment
and currently has four registered trainers. With a pass rate
of over double the national average, our instructor training
courses attract drivers from all over the country.
The ORDIT register is supervised by the Driving Standards
Agency. All drivers registered are periodically inspected to ensure that the
required standard is maintained. There are approximately fifty training
establishments nationwide on the register. You can obtain details together with
a ADI starter pack by sending a cheque for £5.00 made payable to The
Driving Standards Agency, Stanley House, Talbot Street, Nottingham. NG1

In order to become an Approved Driving Instructor you are
required to pass 3 examinations. You will need the ADI starter
pack before you can apply for the part 1 examination, however
if you choose to undertake your driving instructor training
with Pelican then it is provided free with our course materials.
The three examinations consist of:
Part 1 a theory test of 100 multiple choice questions plus a hazard perception
test.
Part 2 a test of your driving ability which is undertaken on the road
accompanied by an examiner.
Part 3 a test of your ability to instruct other drivers.
Full details of the examinations are included in the ADI starter pack [ADI14]
or can be accessed on the
DSA
web site.
Driving instructor training is conducted on
a one to one basis and is charged at an hourly rate. It is
not advisable to pay for all your training in advance. On
a part time basis it takes on average about nine months to
qualify.
