>>> How Driver Training Can Be Made To Work

Fleet Driver TrainingHere at Pelican Fleet Training we have long been aware of the limitations of conventional driver training programmes.

We have measured the effect on many occasions and have found that no noticeable benefit has occurred. We believe that a significant return on training investment is achievable providing that the solution applied is effective.

Our driver training programmes provide the most cost effective means of transferring skills and knowledge to meet the needs of the organisation and the individual driver. They are designed to remove the barriers that exist to effective training and produce measurable results on the road where it matters.

The secret of our success is in the approach, which we have developed from a wealth of experience and an in depth understanding of driver safety. We concentrate on the reasons why drivers behave as they do, rather than improving driving technique, and help them to change attitudes and behaviour in order to reduce risk.

We find that people learn best by doing. The more time we spend with them out on the road, the better the results. Information can be readily relayed on the move and is more easily digested in real time situations.

Ownership is a vital ingredient of each programme. Participants will only buy into a process when they see benefit in it for themselves. We work with management to raise the profile of driver safety and develop a forum where problems can be identified, aired and addressed. Effective two way communication is an integral part of this process.
